10.4.4. Configure MIDI Input

FluidSynth generates sound as instructed by a connected (software- or hardware-based) MIDI device. Verify the following settings so FluidSynth connects to the devices you want.
  1. Open the Qsynth "Setup" window.
  2. The "Enable MIDI Input" check-box must be checked.
  3. Choose the correct "MIDI Driver" setting:
    • Use the "alsa_seq" setting if you want to connect FluidSynth with a source on the "ALSA" tab of the QjackCtl "Connect" window. Use this setting for Rosegarden and Qtractor in most cases.
    • Use the "jack" setting if you want to connect FluidSynth with a sources on the "MIDI" tab of the QjackCtl "Connect" window.
  4. If you want to change the number of MIDI input channels in FluidSynth, refer to Section 10.5.1, “Change the Number of MIDI Input Channels” below.
