1.2.5. Choosing a Connection Type

The connection type is only one of the considerations when choosing a sound card. If you have a desktop computer, and you will not be using a notebook or netbook computer for audio, you should consider an internal PCI or PCI-Express connection. If you want an external sound card, you should consider a FireWire connection. If FireWire-connected sound cards are more too expensive, you should consider a USB connection. The connection type is not the most important consideration when choosing a sound card. The subjective quality of the analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters is the most important consideration.
